ATTN: WATER UTILITY CUSTOMERS

On September 30, 2021 Proclamation 20-23.15, the prohibition of utility disconnection during the COVID-19 pandemic, will expire. The City of Yelm recognizes the many challenges that our residents faced during the pandemic and are willing to work with customers who have been financially impacted by the public health emergency.

Residents with past due water accounts with the City of Yelm currently have two options for keeping their services turned on once the moratorium expires:

  1. Pay their account off in full before October 31, 2021
  2. Sign a contract before October 31, 2021 for an up to 12-month payment plan to pay off their past due amount

Failure to do either may result in a termination of services. The Washington Constitution, Article 8, Section 7, prohibits gift of public funds. As a public water utility provider, we are not able to forgive or write-off any balances.

However there are many local and state resources for customers to reach out to if they need assistance in getting their utility accounts current.

Starting November 1, 2021 the City of Yelm will be going back to the normal shut off schedule and policies. These can be viewed here. For questions or concerns please reach out to the Community Services Department at (360) 458-3244.
