ANIMAL CONTROL

The Public Works Department provides animal control services for the citizens of Yelm by providing field service call outs for animals at large, animal nuisance complaints, aggressive or dangerous dogs, and dead animal removal. Staff also conducts investigations regarding animal cruelty. It is the City’s policy to attempt to locate pet owners and return lost animals to their homes as quickly as possible. The City has a policy that all dogs within the City limits shall be licensed. Licensing your pet greatly assists the animal control officers with locating the pet owner and returning the animal home. Animal control calls are responded to as timely as possible; however, due to various work demands and callouts, response times may vary.

The City of Yelm encourages adoption services through the Thurston County Humane Society Animal Services Office at (360) 866-8986. The City of Yelm may also have animals available for adoption. For additional adoption information please call (360) 458-8406.

The Animal Control Facility is located at the Public Works Facility at 901 Rhoton Road.
