CRIME PREVENTION

BLOCK WATCHES

The Yelm Police Department offers services to provide neighborhoods with instruction and information on how to make their blocks/neighborhoods safer. The information will enable homeowners to become more aware of their surrounding area and know how to prevent crime from occuring. An initial meeting is planned on a street or residence in the neighborhood by a requesting groupd of neighbors. A Crime Prevention Officer will attend the meeting and provide information and instruction. Signs indicating your neighborhood as a block watch area can then be placed for minimal cost. Follow up meetings can also occur should crime fail to decrease. For information regarding establishing a block watch in your neighborhood please contact the Yelm Police Department at (360) 458-5701.

CRIME PREVENTION SEMINARS

The Yelm Police Department provides crime prevention seminars to area businesses at your request. These seminars include drug awareness, shoplifting, and theft prevention as well as preparing your business so you are less likely to be victim of a robbery or burglary. For information about having an instructional seminar at your place of business, please contact the Yelm Police Department at (360) 458-5701.
