The term “garage sale” means any event, other than sales activities operated in conjunction with a regularly licensed commercial or retail operation, which is advertised as a place where the public may purchase personal property. Included in the definition of garage sales are yard sales, patio sales, rummage sales and other similar sales.
Garage Sales require a permit from the City. Applications should be submitted to the Yelm Police Department by telephone, including the name and address of the applicant, the address of the location of the proposed sale, a general description of the type of items to be sold, and the date or dates of the sale.
Garage sales are allowed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Goods displayed in any garage sale may not be displayed in the public right-of-way. Signs advertising a garage sale may be posted only on the property where the sale is being held.
