Economic Development Stragegy
Mayor Foster established an economic initiative to understand the needs of new and existing businesses in order to review City processes and reduce barriers for continued economic growth.

The three goals of the initiative are to retain existing businesses, make sure all small businesses can grow, and to attract new businesses to serve the needs of the greater Yelm community.

The effort is being let by the Department of Community & Economic Development and will include:

  • Create an Economic Development Strategy
  • Develop a Downtown Corridor Plan
  • A lean review of the development review process
  • The creation of a business development team
  • Partner with the Thurston EDC to provide small business training at the Community Center
