CIVIL ENGINEERING PLAN REVIEW

The City of Yelm is a community dedicated to a quality environment. It is the responsibility of the City to provide for the health, safety and general welfare of its citizenry and the public. We attempt to achieve maximum uniformity of planning, engineering, and construction practices within the City. We strive to facilitate orderly growth and development of the City; protect property values; to preserve and protect vital aspects of the natural environment; to encourage the uniform development of an integrated, fully accessible public transportation system that will lessen congestion and promote safe and convenient travel on the streets and highways for present and future travel demand with minimal environmental impact on the community as a whole; provide for adequate light and air; conserve and restore natural beauty and other natural resources; and maintain and perpetuate environmental quality.

Therefore, for any land use changes, other than single family dwelling construction, civil engineering plan review is required. Anything involving grading over 100 cubic yards of material, roads, streets, parking, storm drainage retention/detention systems, change/extension of water, change/extension of sewer, illumination, or asphalt paving, will require submission of civil engineering plans.

For specific applications and regulations regarding these various systems, please see the appropriate link of the City of Yelm’s Community Development Department or the City’s Development Guidelines, available for purchase in CD-ROM format.
